What is an Essential Occupier?

An essential occupier is a family member who is required to be listed in the Application Form in order to form a family nucleus and qualify under an eligibility scheme to purchase a flat. A proper family nucleus is defined as follows:

  1. If you are married: you, your spouse and your children (if any).

  2. If you are single: you and your parents.

  3. If you are widowed/divorced/separated: you and your children under your custody.

  4. Fiance and fiancee.

  5. Orphaned siblings.

Any person listed as an essential occupier in the application must continue to be listed in the application and stay in the flat during the minimum occupation period.
